LANK

I texted him and he said it was "pretty beat up" and that's why its $200. He said it's in a closet and he is sick so he doesn't want to drag it out unless i was sure i wanted to buy it. I was thinking of getting a vertical 2x12 guitar cab with vintage 30's because i dont want to have to lug around a massive cab to shows. Right now im using my friends Mesa oversized 4x12 and the thing must weigh 100lbs. Thoughts?

Don't know, depends, what kind of sickness does he have? Could I catch it from the cab? Why is it hiding in the closet? not sure I would want a cab that was that shy...

sounds dodgy. i don't think it matters how sick he is because you need to see it's working and worth the price. maybe he is genuinely sick in which case i'd respectfully say that you're not going to commit to buy ahead of seeing it because that's daft, but you would intend to buy if it's okay and works. i mean, you're paying for fuel and taking the time to see it - does he think people just waste their time willy nilly?

"can run 4, 8, and 16ohm signals"
Whut? Not technically possible unless you drop 2 speakers out of circuit in at least one of those combinations.

I think the standard is 8 ohms per side, and you can run the cab in mono in either 4 or 16.

OMG, RIGHT!!??

I don't know about where you guys live but $200 for a 1960 makes the possibility of catching malaria, when you go check it out seem worth while, though.

In the UK you'd pay around £50 each for the vintage 30's. I'd say it was a good deal.

G12-T75's are very harsh ugly sounding speakers...
Vintage 30's are whats in the mesa cab from the factory, I bet you will be unhappy with the 75's

Yeah. You drop 2 speakers out of circuit to get 8 ohms.

yeah i prefer vintage 30's but then again its just because any amp i really liked had them loaded. Ive never tried the 1960a before so it seemed interesting. what is more interesting is i told the guy that i was gonna hold off and no thanks... then he has kept texting me the last two days basically begging me to pick it up and buy it. he asked if i would go pick it up today if he lowered the price. im just ignoring his texts hoping he goes away.
