I saw this guitar on CL. I have never heard of it before.
Fender Prodigy
Are these good guitars? Looks like a 2 knob Strat with a right angled jack and hard tail bridge.

Early 90s model, the guitarist from Elastica played one back in the day... I wanted one but couldn't afford it, funny you should post it I was just talking about them being my favorite forgotten fender the other day.

I tried one two years ago, and thought it was bland. It had a weird thng with the tone control or volume, I think you could split the bucker if the volume was rolled to half. I cant remember well.

There was a previous Strat that had been corner-cut to the extent of having master vol/tone with the jack on the pickguard like that, maybe these continued on as that sort of guitar in the Smith era? I'm pretty sure they're in my 50 Years of Fender book but I can't find it (now there's a 60 Years of Fender in shops, probably the same but with some shit about The Strokes on the last 2 pages).

Played one in a GC once, pretty solid instrument, on par with Fender Japan and other MIJ shredder type guitars of the era. Seems like a good price for a (mostly) USA Fender. That's a 1990 model too, pretty rare. The ones after that had a Kahler with locking nuts. For some reason I was thinking these were 24 3/4" but I can't find anything about their scale length.
I think the previous 2-knob Strats paul referred to were American Standard models from 82-84, the last of the CBS era. Those are damn fine guitars too, but not much in common otherwise.
Then there were the Bullet models too. Those were mostly made overseas though.

I just wonder if these guitars would be worth modding. Maybe upgrade the pickups and you might have a nice guitar.
The body apparent is offset. If the neck was good, it could be a cool Strat alternative.
