It was. This is what it looks like now.It originally Fireglo but George had it painted black to match John's guitar.

If I'm not mistaken it was in some museum till nowadays, so they decided to sell it? Interesting for how much it will be sold.

It was on loan to "The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame".

Yeah, that one is much cooler and from when the Beatles made way better music.
So, given that the Rickenbacker is pretty boring from a period when the Beatles made annoying music, the musical tastes of the mainstream dictate that this should cost maybe 50,000 to 100,000$ more, so I would guess at least 465 000. If it was a Strat or Les Paul it would probably fetch more.

Yeah, though I've never been fond of the total blackout look, I think the one in the second picture with the chrome hardware looks best to me. I may do that with my 330.
But something about these 425s, I just think it'd look cool with a black pickguard (and the original one pickup). Maybe i should buy Harrison's and do that to it

I don't know how many rich Beatlemaniac collectors make this distinction compared to young rock guitarists, though? The mop top era is a hugely iconic part of Beatles history, and I don't know if I ever even noticed that Vox guitar in MMT before (possibly cuz high).

George's Rickenbacker 420 sold for $605,000 (link)
There is some charm in 420/425/450 series, maybe because of the big pickguard they look goofy and super cool at the same time. I like them more than 600 series, which looks like expensive but not very needed furniture to me.
