using two amps?
When running two amps do you just need a pedal with two outs or does this cause weird phasing problems... What's the best way to do this?

It'll cause phasing issues if the speakers on the amps are connected out of phase to each other (one speaker moving out when t'other is moving in), causing phase cancellation issues. Luckily, switching the phase of a speaker is as easy as switching the 2 terminals on the back.
I use a supershort 100% wet delay on one amp to dodge this problem, thickening the sound in the process.

I usually run my HRD and silvertone together. jumper the 2 channels on the silvertone then run a cable from input 4 to input 1 on the HRD. sounds great fills out the sound, and gives me a lil extra volume that the silvertone doesn't have on its own. never noticed any issues sound wise, used to have a stereo reverb pedal I could use 2 amps with which was nice too.
what do you mean by jumper the two channels?Josh wrote:I usually run my HRD and silvertone together. jumper the 2 channels on the silvertone then run a cable from input 4 to input 1 on the HRD. sounds great fills out the sound, and gives me a lil extra volume that the silvertone doesn't have on its own. never noticed any issues sound wise, used to have a stereo reverb pedal I could use 2 amps with which was nice too.

the silvertone has 4 inputs, so I'll run a cable between input 2 and 3 so I could use and blend channel 1 and 2 which has a really thick overdrive even with the treble dimed on both channels. then I connect it to the hot rod from input 4 for extra volume. for the band and gigs I think I'm gonna have to get a speaker jack installed to the head and get like a 2X12 cab so it'll carry over drums. sounds incredible though.
stock it has like a 15" Jensen that's like a 15w speaker. but it sounds so nice I'd rather get another cab for shows. it's not loud and isn't that sturdy.

I've done it using all manner of pedals with a stereo out with no problems. Also used a Loopmaster stereo effects loop and Lehle and MonkeyFX ABY pedals. At present I'm taking the stereo outs from the SMMH.
Some people will say to use a buffer but I didn't mind losing a little top end as I was using SS amps.

so does this mean you're going through channels 1,2 and 3 and using 4 as an output?Josh wrote:the silvertone has 4 inputs, so I'll run a cable between input 2 and 3 so I could use and blend channel 1 and 2 which has a really thick overdrive even with the treble dimed on both channels. then I connect it to the hot rod from input 4 for extra volume. for the band and gigs I think I'm gonna have to get a speaker jack installed to the head and get like a 2X12 cab so it'll carry over drums. sounds incredible though.

yeah, really wish i could just use the silvertone it sounds really nice on it's own. honestly i dont even notice the hot rod, aside from the extra volume, so i'm not too sure if it's amplifying, what my silvertone's putting out, or if it's just putting out my guitar. the hot rod deluxe is such a bland sounding amp anyway so it's perfect for that extra bit of power, but input 4 is used as an output into that hrd. kinda sucks because i gotta sell the hot rod, and i'm not gonna have a amp#2 at a show we're doing next month. too much shit to take anyway. just gonna end up micing it up.
Yeah, I bi-amp my VI just splitting out of my Boss CEB-3; no phasing issues here neither.johnnyseven wrote:I've been running 2 amps just using the 2 outputs from my Boss DD7, doesn't seem to cause any issues.
