I know Klons are supposed to be the bee's knees boosting a amp on the verge, but how do they fare boosting other dirt pedals - in particular a Rat? I'm looking for a boost that also doubles as a light OD and was thinking a Klon maybe a contender.

I've got a RAT and one of Tims Golden Eagle Klones, and it works well as a boost.
I have the Rat cranked so there is tons of gain already for me and no need to boost, I use it for the dirgy Stoner Rock thing.
Basically I use it all the time with the OCD... and works incredibly well.
I can do a basic iphone video clip if that helps ? Perhaps tell me your Rat settings too. Or welcome to drop by if you wanted.

A video would be good if it's not too much bother. I run my Rat with the gain between 10 and 12 o'clock and the tone between 12 and 2.

Not sure this'll help much but here you go:
The capacity on my phone filled up hence the abrupt finish.
AND can't get the youtube preview thing to work either.
and vertical video for the haters
Anyways !!!

Mark, Regent Sounds should still have a Golden Eagle in stock, and likely some Zombies from next week if you wanna try one in person.

Thanks for the heads up, but I might just see if my mate Simon will lend me his.

Simon's one is a prototype of the version without the charge pump. We don't built that one anymore as it doesn't have the volume of a full-fat part-for-part clone. Perhaps not what what you're looking for if you're into its clean boosting properties.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the heads up. I'll see if I can get to Regent Sounds then.

Are you seriously trollin' ?
Perhaps you should buy the real Klon, I heard it provides you with manners.

Sorry mate, somehow I totally missed your post with the video - many thanks for taking the time to record and post, it's most helpful.

Just watched the video, great playing - both the Rat and the Klone into the Rat sounded great and as I hoped. I'm going to have to get some cash together now!
Again, apologies for missing your previous post - your video has been most helpful, so thanks for taking the time to help me out.
EDIT: Can I ask what guitar and amp you were using?

Ok No worries, wasn't the best demo at all (not kidding myself there) and wasn't expecting anything more than a 'thanks'... but glad it was useful and gave you some idea.
Ended up being some grief in the end with one thing and another... so hence my short temper. Sorry about that, not your fault.
I'm using my CIJ Jag with Cool Rails in bridge, and a standard stock pickup in the neck for the darker sounding stuff in the clip.
Amp-wise it's an Ampeg GVT5H and Greenback Cab.
The klon-like pedals sound better the louder you get, so try get to the amp cranked if you do try it out.

I find the klon clones ive made not particularly inspiring.
I am more a fan of pedals with a clean blend
along this vein, I made keepers out of the WH PorKLOiN and the DR Sci Elements
I play a lot with delay and modlation and the clean blends really help with that clarity required
