Waohh its sounds great, traditional distortion. My boss md2 sounded sometimes to me to much.

Andy from proguitar shop has a great video with this pedal but sorry no link.

Search MXR distortion + on you tube.

the yellow one. the humbuckers in most of my guitars are so hot that the mxr is just fine.

There have been many versions of the Distortion+ over the years, with differences in the sound between them. Are you talking about the current issue?

I had a reissue script version that sounded really good, the only issue was that the amount of volume available was pretty limited.

I never realized how much easier avatars and signatures make it to read a thread before.

Kurt Cobain never used an MXR Distortion+. I don't think he'll have the opportunity to try one though.

Depends on how hot and/or high your pickups are, if the pedal's output can keep up with it.

It's a great pedal, I've got a battered to fuck original script one that I bought used in the early 90s and have been using since.

That's probably why Weeping Moon has one then.

I used to have a Grumbly Wolf which is based on a 70's one but has more output.

Would like an Mxr version at some point after hearing Rowland S Howard used one. To me it sounds like hes using one here:

Well no probs with mine

The issue I had with mine is that the volume control doesn't only affect volume, but the tone as well. The sweet spot was with the volume at around a half to 3/4 of the way up, but compared to other drive pedals I had on my board this made the MXR too quiet. So despite sounding really good it just didn't work for me in my set up. I guess if you're only using a Distortion+ and nothing else it wouldn't be an issue though. They may have sorted this in the current re-issue though, if that is the one Weeping Moon is using.

Sounds more like an interaction with the front-end of your amp than something the pedal is doing? Otherwise, that's some weirdass output volume control.

I thought that it was an idiosyncrasy of the pedal, I seem to remember PGS Andy referring to it in his video demo.

because of it's placement it's also acting as part of a filter network so yes it has a tonal effect. (POOR DESIGN LOL)
