Thurston Moore singing voice

does anyone who's educated know what singing voice Thurston Moore uses? and when i ask this im mostly talking about songs like Purr and Chapel Hill or SYs cover of Computer Age by Neil Young. i dont know/cant tell if he's using that same singing voice in songs like Snare Girl and Sexxee, or his stuff with Chelsea Light Moving (who i never listened to). i thought he was singing in Alto because i know Neil Young does, but when i try to sing Neil Young i get that sort of light head feeling you get when you sing in falsetto, which i don't get when i sing Sonic Youth. so i thought maybe he's just singing Tenor, and isn't tenor generally guitar range? yeah

Hmm. I don't get why knowing the name would help you reach that range? Just do vocal exercises before trying to harmonize with the tracks you are aiming for.

everytime before i start singing i think of the line "back in the days when the battles raged" to get in pitch but it's kind of important for me to know where that is. you don't need to know the name of the park you're taking a scroll in but it's nice to know i guess? that way i can at least read up on whichever singing voice that is and find some vocal exercises for that range :/

What you ned is vical exercises for your voice type. Idk what you vocal type is, but find it and then look for exercises good for singing higher/lower than your comfortable range. Tenor and alto arent singing voices, but voice types. I dont have the record with me but I highly doubt he was singing consistantly in am altos range as that is quite high. The singing voices are from lowest to highest,.vocal fry: the cracklu low thing you do. Modal: your normal voice. Falsetto: you know this. Whistle tones: really fucking high shit for super h
Higj voiced sopranos.

well yeah but for me to find exercises i need to know what voice type that is :? i know its about the same as thurston moore and julian casablancas when he's not singing one way trigger (shivers)
if he wasn't singing in alto he must have been singing in tenor?

I'd say Thurston is a definite tenor. He doesn't have very wide of a vocal range. He also usually sings in minor.

So, do vocal exercises for a tenor singing in a minor key.

i dont think im gonna go for the minor key tbh but i'll look up tenor exercises

If youre not a tenor you shouldnt be doing tenor exercises, that will put alot of strain on your voice. Dobexercises for your voice type singing a tenor song.

my voice is like a lower tenor, not really baritone and not really tenor. i feel completely at ease singing in tenor if i get to warm up a bit, otherwise i might kill some notes but i dont feel any discomfort

R.I.P Yuri, June 30, 2014

Yuri loved reverb, gain and his G & L. He knew how to smile and even laughed his way into the afterlife.

Goodnight, ykk211.
