So, I have never owned a bass and am looking for one. The cheaper, the better. We talkin bout dat #squiermoney
Im thinking of maybe getting the vm bass vi, but idk
I want something that can play well dirty aswell as clean. I play alot of different kinds of music and I dont really know my bass tone preferences.l, but maybe something garage rock like, but I can more experimental stuff on too. Idk, halp.

SQUIER VM SHORTSCALE JAGUAR BASS

179 bucks, and I love it. I actually prefer it to my mexi P-bass.

I have played that bass and I agree, it's the shit. Once I finally get a job, that will be the first bass I buy.

I like the look of Squier Bronco bass. You can find a used one on ebay for less than $100

i can't think of a better bass tone than a p-bass

yeah shortscale or whatever but if it's voiced like a p-bass you're onto a winner. the jag bass everyone itt is talking about looks fun.

I have an Affinity Squire J-Bass which works fine for me. I bought it at a pawn shop for $120 with hsc.

Squier VM series is good. Classic Vibe series is much nicer IMO. Some of the VMs feel like budget guitars (of course they do sound and play great!). On the other hand, my Classic Vibe P-bass feels like a much more expensive instrument than what I paid for it.

Short scale jag bass if you want something that plays well stock, Bronco bass if you're looking for a project. Regular scale basses give you a lot more to choose from.

The Jag bridge pickup is considered weak. There's a cheap magnet mod you can do which is supposed to help dramatically with that jazz pickup.

Good loud bass amps can be had cheap, but with bass you normally pay more the lighter and more portable it is..

If you're looking for cheap try to find a peavey mark vi or similar and a cheap 1x15 cab. It's very possible to get a gigable bass rig for under $200 if you know what you're looking for.
