theyve ditched the wooden stick and have gone for plastic, and it also has an extra translucent plastic cap that covers the business end (not pictured). the oil itself is a little different too; feels less slippery and smells like regular furniture polish, but works more or less the same
just george here letting you know

Used to use that stuff but have since switched to something more available.
Heaven knows why it works, but good ol' deodorant and a cotton cloth does the trick. Picked up a bunch of these guys at Smart & Final for 2.29 a pop.

wait a sec you just rub deoderent on the strings and wipe excess off with cotton? dude I might try that. get my guitars smelling FRESH.

Aye, and I think it's the basic combination of alcohol and glycerin that solves the whole rigmarole.
Keep in mind that the above stick a la Isaiah Mustafa & Co. is much softer than the proper ghs stuff, and if you're not careful you could get it all gunky on your fretboard with little trouble, especially in the summer months.

i can't imagine that being very nice tbh. to each their own i suppose, but i would recommend everyone look into some sort of string wipe. i can use a set of strings for MONTHS using a little fast fret, and it takes the nasty drag away from worn-in strings. plus fast fret is only £5 and will last years
