This finish on this guitar reminds me of the Harmony made Silvertone I used to have. That's why I bought it.Also,I sold all my other guitars so I need something to play

Thanks! This is the last of the guitar couch shots as this place I have called home for the past 12 years will cease to exist at the end of September.

I got a $50 amp to go with my $50 guitar. It's a 20 watt solid state Unicord Stage 65 made in the USA around 1977. It has reverb and built-in distortion. The speaker ia a 12" Rola.

Is it weird going back to a beginner guitar after having had such crazy cool ones like the Les Mascis and the Rickenbackers?

Well this particular guitar is really nice.It feels much better than say an off-the-self Squier Bullet or Affinity. That is because it has had a professional setup by Ted Vig(luthier at the store). He polished the frets and filed all sharp ends flush to the fretboard. He also shimmed the neck and set action super low so it plays as well as a much more expensive strat. The Body and neck are really nice.I think the body is basswood and the neck is really chunky. Overall it just fells like a real strat to me so I don't feel like I have to get a better one and with the funky paint job and peal guards it looks like a low budget Custom Shop strat...like those FSR "Designed by a Masterbuilder" Player's Strats that sell for $800.

Good point, man. At fitty bones, you could pay 5 times as much and still be in the SQUIER MONEY range.

I was interested in the Starcaster by Fender strats because The earliest version had headstocks like a Swinger.

The other thing I like about the Starcaster I bought is the finish wears so that it looks more like a vintage guitar than the typical shiny black Squier strats you see.

I had a Squier standard series (HSS) that I got locally for £30 or something, it had the same sparkly finish. It was great quality too.

Cool! Maybe it was made at the same factory as mine? According to the The Starcaster by Fender Wiki (link) The Arrowhead Starcasters with rosewood fretboards were made in the same Indonesian factory and shared components with the original Squier 51

My favorite cheap strats.I love the color(Shell Pink) of the Affinity but the Starcaster feels more like "a real strat" because the Affinity has a thinner body and neck than the Starcaster. The fretboard is narrower too.The starcaster has a full sized fretboard and the neck profile is a really chunky C shape.

I bought my little cousin a cheapo Affinity Strat in purple years ago and it was surprisingly nice.

this is sort of like the black royale epi metallic. it's nice, but i prefer big nasty flakes

although the black royales have egregious champagne sparkle flakes on the binding though so it makes up for it

The black sparkle is more like a 60's Silvertone finish
