What year did Fender change the Duo Sonic eight hole pick guard to 12 hole ?? Was it 1958 or 1959 .... or another year ??

Thank You.

I'm not interested enough to look for that, but this is the definitive Duo-Sonic site: Marcel Roy's site

I have to think it was when they switched to plastic in 59.

That's right, the anodized guards are 8 hole, the tan guard from '59 and later versions have 12. The body rout is slightly different as well to support an extra screw near the jack socket.

Marcel Roy's site on Duos and Musicmasters is a fantastic resource for anyone after info on them!

There is a few transitional variations as noted in one publication:
"It is certain that Fender had an excess of the "old" bodies that were fitted to the "new" rosewood necks. These are easy to spot as they have only 11 securing screws holding the plastic pick guard to the body (the screw located roughly between the tone knob & the jack is missing; there's nothing underneath to screw into!). "
I have one of these but it's a Musicmaster.
