I found
this on ebay
Any one know if these are any good? At $20 or so it might be worth a punt. I do like that the elephant's (mammoth's?) eyes are the LEDs

these look awesome but im a bit wary about the build quality, those plastic jacks dont look like they'd stay in place too long.

According to some other forums the RAT clones are somewhat decent. Which, for the $25 or so dollars I spent is well worth the money. The actual build quality was not up for discussion over there though.

So the R. Attack came. It's cool! Seems relatively well built. Knobs are just the right kind of stiff, enclosure is nice and weighty. The mode switch may be a little flimsy but I'm not going to go out of my way to break it.
If you'll direct your attention to the picture of the pedal, you'll see three different modes.
Dir is supposed to be based on the You Dirty RAT, but having never owned one I don't know how accurate it is. It's mildly Big Muff-like, but not as defined. You can get some alt rock/stoner rock kinda tones out of it.
Tur is Turbo RAT and I think it actually sounds better than what I remember the actual pedal sounds like. Less muddy, but it also just sounds like a boosted version of the Vin setting. It's a driving distortion to be sure.
The Vin setting is coping classic RAT tones, my guess the original small box version, and it's pretty nice. Crunchy distortion with solid tone adjustment and plenty of breakup as you dial up the dirt.
The rest of it is solid. Input and output seem well assembled, stomp switch is rugged, battery compartment doesn't get in the way and it removes super easy if it does. For $25 it's totally worth it. Compared to a ProCo RAT? Might just be the better deal.

Sounds like its akin the left side of a RAT Deucetone, the only difference on the other half being a theoretical (and fairly redundant) "You Clean Rat" low gain setting in place of the Dirty circuit. That's what I use but I wanted to downsize so this still sounds very appealing, thanks for the info.

Here in Italy, there's a boutique pedal builder called Mad Hatter that has made a similar version of the Rat: the pedal is called "The Rat and a long tale": it has the usual three control knobs, a switch to select the mode (Standard, Dirty and Turd) and another switch to select a symmetrical or an asymmetrical clipping. A totally hand-made, affordable pedal for only 120€ .
