What's the big blue box? It looks like a big brother to your Adrenalinn.

The big blue box is a Dave Smith Instruments Evolver and kind of is a brother to the AdrenaLinn as Dave Smith helped Roger Linn on the design/production of the original AdrenaLinn and it inspired him to make the Evolver. I'm pretty excited about what it can do. As well as making ace bass synth sounds, it can also be used to do little sequences which can be sync'd to the AdrenaLinn's drum loops/effects and it can be used to process the guitar sound, offering tuned delay and feedback which can be played with the pedals.

Which will hopefully sound excellent.

Been looking at the evolver recently.

So are you using the bass pedals with it? If not what are you using to control them?

I'm currently using the bass pedals to both play sounds and trigger the sequencer on the Evolver (they're just Roland PK-5 MIDI pedals). Took it too rehearsal last night for the first time and, as our bassist pulled out at the last minute, played bass on basically all the songs using them. It was excellent though I almost fell over a couple of times due to the compelxities of the footwork required.

First gig with them next Friday, I'm well excitied. If you're thinking Evolver, my advice is DO IT. They fucking rule.

Just to update: I have now done this and it does indeed sound excellent.

I have also figured out that the pedals were in Octave mode which meant they were triggering notes on the Evolver an octave higher than expected resulting in much confusion but it's fixed now and there is SO MUCH BASS.
