New gear day (Tokai content)

Post by Freethenoise »

I made a quick video of my new Tokai SG. Really digging having some PAF style humbuckers, even if it is slightly neck heavy.

Sweet. Is that one of the MIC ones?

I played one the other week. Sounded and felt good, but would have liked a slightly more rounded fretboard.

Yeah, one of the newer ones.

I really dig it. The fact that it's neck heavy kind of bugs me, but I've got a Bigsby B5 and a vibromate on the way to sort that out.

Nice! You'll need to do another video when you get the B5 on it.

Sounds great man! Both the guitar and your playing. Congrats!

Quality control is good on these? I've been thinking about an LP Jr. from Tokai.

Quality control seem pretty tight, everything feels solid after I changed out the .09 or whatever gauge strings it came with. I haven't had loads of experience with a bunch of these (my other Tokai is a Japanese one from the 90s) but I'd say they're a fair shout.

Thanks for the kind words!

I promised myself I wouldn't do an Iommi or AC/DC on camera with this guitar.

There really was this thing where I first got a red SG again where I was like "IOMMI ME" and then, Marshall humming in front of me, picking hand poised in the air, I was like "nah" and maybe did Sweet Leaf unplugged on a Tele later a few nights later while watching TV. I just wanted there to be one guitar in the arsenal where I wasn't getting all pagan with it.

I may have taken it in the shitter and made kissy faces at the mirror while playing it though. I'm self-conscious, not dead.
