Saw them in PMT Manchester a couple of weeks ago. The binding looks really odd on them.

In other news, toss the string tree and the Strat is also instantly in pseudo-Eric Johnson Signature mode.
And yeah, Tele neck binding looks weird and unnecessary, like putting a gilded handle on a power saw.

I don't mean weird like "doesn't belong" I mean weird like "looks like no other binding I've seen on a Fender before".

The channel bound and Eric Johnson binding are totally different.

here. It's not really binding, they mill out the neck leaving a border and drop a rosewood fretboard into the depression. So the "binding" is part of the maple neck.

Sorry, I'm blind.
I think these channel bound standard strats sound great from clips I've heard, but American Standard Strats have sounded great for a long time.

They even interfere with sleep I guess, those bad sustained overtones
