Roland Cube 30 vs Vox VT50

Post by Bacchus »

Hello all,

My brother is looking at guitar amps and has narrowed it down to these two. They are roughly similarly priced (NZ$195 for the Vox vs $230 for the Roland).

I have always really liked the Rolands and would have said to go for it because I know they're good, but I have no experience at all with Voxes. The Valvetronix amps are roughly the Vox equivalent of the Marshall AVT aren't they? In that they have a valve in them but it isn't doing anything at all?

Which would you go for? How well do the Voxes take pedals?

I'm guessing that in terms of output they are going to be pretty similar, I can't imagine 50w solid state being that much louder than 30w.

I have a Valvetronix 30w. It was really great for many years until I got the Cambridge.
