When 6 strings just aren't enough

7弦ギターが来たんだ!
Sorry for another 7 string thread, but i recently picked this up from a friend for a good price. It's my only guitar at the moment. Pickups are seymour duncan "blackouts". I'm usually not a huge fan of active pickups, but these seem good so far. Tonight with the typhoon raging outside, i decided to put on some heavy gauge strings and take into "djent" drop G# territory.

I'd never listened to clips of Blackouts of even read reviews, but I'd always assumed they were EMG clones effectively. What do you think of them?

Cool. RG1527?

I like the sound of the standard Blackouts better than most of the other pickups in this clip (~9:33, the actual video has time stamp links to all the different models). Suits the genre well. I bet they sound very much like EMGs when they're clean, though---incredible clarity, yet sterile.

It's hard to really tell because I'm currently playing it through a line 6 spider amp with the volume on 2. The average studio around here is marshall jcm900 purgatory. I would say they certainly sound like your average active pups, like a bassier emg81.
