Saves money on cutters. I've had a couple of Bahco cutters I used for electronics ruined by my son and a decent (Lindstrom) pair totally vanished not long after he started playing guitar.

I usually just bend the ends back and forth until they break. If a string is too thin for that I'll use cutters, or pliers to hold it firmly while twisting until it breaks.

No, my son did years ago... and we must buy cheaper nail clippers or tougher strngs than you.

my dad uses knipex pliers for work, i prefer CK redline, they're amazin' (pricey though).
