So my brother has what I believe to be a 90s Fender Bassman combo 4x10 that is beat to fuck, looks like it was dragged by truck for 100 miles, it's been gigged to fuck and is now broken again and the repairman says he won't work on it anymore, it's got a circuit board but is all tube I believe.

I am thinking to buy a Bassman amp kit and build him a new Bassman, just use his old speakers (I think they are alnico)

Anyway, can any of you suggest a cheap kit? I found this but it seems kinda high: http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/amp-k ... E6uk4cqfBI

I am located in the U.S. of A.

I always found amp kits to be less of a value compared to buying and fixing a broken amp etc.

For those prices you can definitely buy something already working and do what you want.

This. The same about guitar kits, if you are naturally not a guitar luthier/tech, then building kits usually turns into ballache - it requests skills and in the end doesn't cost any cheaper than a new/used guitar/amp.
