Do AXL pedals suck?

Post by NickS »

I just picked an AXL CFT chromatic tuner out of my son's bin. He says it's useless. Anyone got any experience? Not much on the web.

I just played with it for quarter of an hour and it's as good as the Fender PT-10 as far as tracking goes; they both occasionally glitch, showing an octave harmonic on the B string as an E. I don't think either is as good or as flexible as the Boss TU-2 (no modes or tuning adjustment) but it seems to be perfectly adequate as a basic tuner.

They probably make some effects that are pretty stock/standard, so combined with the knock-off look he just didn't think much of the brand/line itself... cheapo tuners are rarely too bad these days though, so it's probably as good as stuff like that fender in operation.

Indeed it is. I can't remember what the problem was, but I fixed it and it's now my off-the-pedalboard tuner that I use at the jam, around the house, etc. I have a TU2 on the pedalboard. I also have a Korg acoustic one (ex my daughter) that I use for tuning the acoustic and the mandolin.

I think it kept cutting out or something in bypass. Glad it's still getting used :)
