The guitar present was acquired by Phil Solem of the The Rembrandts just prior to the video shoot for the hit single version of "I'll Be There for You," which they composed for the smash NBC sitcom, Friends. The guitar is featured prominently throughout the video and can be seen played by Solem as well as several members of the Friends cast. In 1994, the Los Angeles group The Rembrandts were invited to record a theme song for Friends; the television sitcom that portrayed twenty-something singles in New York. After the show's 1994 success, radio demanded a full-length version of the song, and one was added to 1995's LP at the last minute. While the song was a radio success, topping Billboard's airplay chart for eight weeks, it was never released as retail single. It peaked at number 17 on Billboard charts and eventually achieved Platinum status. The band followed in 1998 with Spin This, and in 2001, released Lost Together. Previously, the group achieved success in 1990 with their self-titled debut album, which produced the Top 20 hit, ""Just the Way It Is, Baby.""
