I've been playing with the idea of searching for a guitar with built in effects and came accross one of these Danelectro jobs with strat pickups .. I've never really considered these Danos since they have no lipsticks but discovered what this thing does have is 4 effects built into the guitar . A distortion, tremelo, chorus and an " echo " which has got to be some sort of a delay .
Anyone ever play one of these ? Any good ? They seem like a cool little guitar to play with and with GFS making lipstick pickups can make an interesting project . It even has glitter and a stereo jack.

Probably about a decade ago now, there was one in a local guitar center that I tried out and really wanted. At the time I was pretty interested in the thought of having on board fx for a travel guitar so I ran to the bank to get the $100 something they were asking and it was gone. I might have waited a day or two, either way I never got it. I don't remember much about the playability, but it must have been decent enough that I was willing to buy it at the time. That sunburst sparkle looks pretty subtle in the photo, but I bet it's loud in person.

As for the stereo jacks, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe one jack is the effects input, and the other is straight to the pots/pickups.

There were also three versions, the Innuendo (the four fx unit guitar as pictured above), the Hearsay (distortion only) and the Rumor Bass (chorus only).

I've played a few. They're nice enough, feel solid to me, probably on par with the $200 range squier and epis.

I know I've played a 6 and a 12 string but as curious as I was about the effects I never plugged one in, possibly because I was afraid I would buy it.

I've got the 30 inch scale baritone/bass vi one. I think the effects are actually very useable, except for the distortion.

dude like 10 years ago these were EVERYWHERE. You'd step in to a guitar shop and trip over a pile of Russian muffs (for $30 each) and there'd be a half dozen of these Danophobe strats.

4 trew.

But not before you had to navigate through a pile a Jay Turser copies.

Now they make these generic Silvertone copies, that everyone seems to be making.

I feel like we're both talking about Green Shift.

And basically every guitar store in Tampa or Miami for that matter. There is no truly great guitar shop in Tampa. Which is crazy cause there's a lot of money here.

When Ed's guitar closed in Miami, I was sad.

I asked a place why they would carry low end no name brands instead of SQUIER and the guy told me a lot of major brands have capitol requirements and some won't even look at you if you haven't been in business at least 5 years.
