It's definately played in D, but on a guitar tuned to Eb, so this dude has shifted it to C#.

I say find a video of kurt playing it, then tune your guitar to E flat, and try and mimic it.

D? I am totally confused. The note would be the same if it were tuned to Eb or E, you'd just play the D on the 6th fret instead of the 5th. Do you mean C?

Ok, I am in standard, and I admit I haven't listened to that song in a long time, but I just played what I remember it being, in standard, as B, A, G, F#, G, A. THat sounds right for what I remember of the song. This tab has it, in standard, as C#, A, F#, G#, A, B. That isn't even a case of a different key, that is a wholly different melody.

Again, I could be wrong, I haven't heard it in a while, but I remember the tune as I listed above, in standard.

The song is played at the 5th fret on the A string (D5 powerchord in standard tuning), so the pitch of the note (5th fret A string powerchord) in Eb tuning would be a C#. I've heard a version of this where he plays it in D, I can't believe he'd play a song in varying keys, and Kurt tuned to Eb a fair bit, so that's my assumption.

Bear in mind "Sappy" is one of the songtitles bootleggers disagree on seeing as how it was never "official" named , this is the "and if you save yourself, you will make him happy" one. And it definately goes D A# G, A A# C.
