Scored a sweet deal on ebay for a used Orange Dual Terror. $575, looks to be in pristine condition. I bought an Orange closed back 1x12 to match with it at home. I already have a Marshall 1960a cab i use currently. I'm hoping that i can use the 1x12's portability for smaller gigs where everything is mic'd up. Pretty stoked about everything all in all. Anyone used any of these and have any thoughts??

I think Progrockabuse had one until his recent gear overhaul I'm sure he'll chime in.

Yep, up until a month ago i was using a dual terror for five- six years solid. Great amp, makes you focus more on what your playing rather than from fiddling too much with it. I always used it on the 15 watt two tubes mode and never struggle to be heard. It's fucking loud. I ran it through 2 x 10 and it sounded great. If it had a fx loop it wouldnt of been replaced by my Hughes and kettner. My lead singer has my dual terror now, with the agreement that if I ever want it back I can.

The seller said the light bulb didn't light up anymore to show standby/power on. Seems simplease enough to fix but I can't find much info on them. Seems like
these should work though?

Yeh, pilot light is a dead easy fix and I'd defo recommend a tube upgrade if it's still the stock ones. I had jj tubes in mine and sounds even better

I grilled the guy about it. He SAID the amp had about 10 hours of playing on it with the original tubes. Never took it out of his house. The light never worked from the get go. And the only reason he is selling it is because it's too loud for his living situation and it has been just sitting around. I was probably going to order some JJs for it. I want to do some research after I get it though. I don't like really high gain amps so I might see what's avail to get a little more mellow sound

Try some lower gain 12AX7 substitutes to tame the preamp gain a little () if you find it too much:

Get those ones that are in Twins, 7025s or whatever.

It came in today. So far so good. Haven't been able to really crank it but tomorrow I'm gonna practice with it on my marshall 1960a and crank it. One thing I though was weird is on the 7 and 15 watt settings it sounded really mushy, but at full 30 it was way less chunky sounding. Not what I was excpecting.

Welp, this thing kicks serious ass. I cranked it thru my marshall 4x12 and it was ALMOST perfect sounding. Used the fat channel for "cleans" and TT for dirt. I ordered a JJ ECC81 to stick in V3 to give me a little more clean headroom on the fat channel. I noticed that this amp is pretty dark sounding. im assuming since im using neck humbucker almost exclusively its probably to be expected. the cleans are fine, but on the TT channel with a moderate amount of gain it gets a little farty on the low end. I ordered a boss eq of ebay used to try out and see if i can tweak it slightly. im hoping a combination of these things will help make it perfect. any other suggestions??
