Saltbooster (Guts) Help

Post by damienblair17 »

I love my Saltbooster (who doesn't?) but recently it has been emitting a very loud squeeling sound when it's plugged in sometimes. When I wiggle the input it goes away for a bit. Any idea what the problem is? The pedal doesn't have to be on for this to happen.

Without seeing the build, a couple of things that may account for something like this:
#1. Earthing. Make sure nuts are done up tight on the sockets, check wiring.
#2. Power supply instability. Have you tried it on an alternate PSU?
#3. Microphony. I have a tuner that makes a dull bong when you tap it... and some caps in my old HH solid-state amp sound like a record-player needle being rubbed if you touch them. Does it change with handling?

If it's one I built you can always send it back to me and I'll debug and fix it for free. PM me if you're interested
