NBD: Fender MIM fretless Jazz Bass

Post by Nick »

So bland it seems not worth mentioning, but it was a great deal and something I've been missing since I sold my last fretless Jazz (though that one had a Badass II bridge and came with nylon tapewounds. May do upgrades too it down the road, not a fan of the 60 cycle hum especially in my noisy ass basement so noiseless pickups may be in order. The pickups now are hum cancelling used together as long as they're at the same volume which is kind of limiting. Definitely needs a non-uggo pickguard, thinking 3-ply black will do.

Other than the chip on the godawful excuse for red tort pickguard this is in mint condition, especially for a 13 year old instrument.. Also it came with a very sturdy Fender deluxe gig bag. Not bad for $300

It looks cool. The Jazz bases were the only great quality instrument Fender Mexico were putting out then. I love my Jazz Bass from that era.

You should peel off the horrible tort layer on your guard until you pick up a mint or black one. Or do you have other plans...

Thanks! It's definitely a nice feeling instrument and I couldn't be more impressed with the quality to price ratio.

Peeling the tort is easier said than done...thinking of picking up a loaded American tort pickguard with the noiseless pickups, stratosphere on ebay has a good deal on one right now.
