White F***ING Mustang!

Most of you saw my ft ad to pick up a white Japanese Mustang with contours and it arrived today. I love it so far. Here are pictures.

First thing I fixed was the right height adjustment post was locked up. It just ended up being not seated on the plate right. Once I popped it back in place, it adjusted fine.

I had my fiesta competition Mustang I traded a ways back, but I was able to keep my Spitfire Mustang guard it had. It is going on here.

I also have some alnico 5 custom pickups from Bullock Guitar Pickups. His stuff is really nice so I grabbed up a set when they were up for sale.

Also put my normal dual design strap locks on it. It has pitting on the metal that I really like. There are a couple dings on the back of the neck I will drop fill and sand smooth. It is going to be totally awesome when I finish working on it.

Shouldnt the cigar be as low as possible for the best sustain?

When I do it lower, the strings hit the back screws on the bridge.

That Spitfire tort looks nice on the white. As for the strings hitting the back of the bridge, is the neck shimmed?

Super nice Stang. The cigar on my J-S is about that high and I haven't bothered with it... but I'm new to Stang setups.

Oh wow I didnt notice about those screws! thats a design flaw if you ask me!
I've got Teh Kurdtz with the TOM bridge, Ive got the cigar lowered as low as possible and locked down.

the cool thing is with these when they get 50 years old, the pickup covers age and yellow but the switches don't just like yours

Nice 'Stang! Haven't seen a white one with a contour before. If you want to lower the height more just flip the bridge around so the screws point toward the neck. You'll have to set the intonation of course but IIRC it's worth it.

Since I had some of the parts I figured I would get some work done. I took off the old guard with the pickups and switches and put the Spitfire one on top. Matches perfect and looks much better then the printed one it had.

Then I put the alnico V Mustang pickups I got that Bullock Guitar Pickups made in the original yellowed covers and got those on the Spitfire guard. (Drool)

Figured I would update the tone capacitor for fun and I added the extra ground connectors to make sure stuff had a solid ground.

Got the neck off to satin the back and repair a small ding and found this. Never seen this in a neck pocket before.

Neck has a small shim. I might take that one off and use a slightly thicker one. The bridge is pretty low.

Neck is fixed. The satin finish it has now is totally sweet. It is like the Japanese Mascis neck now. No more dent. The Gorilla Glue Gel worked great. Sanded just fine.

Once back on, I cleaned the fretboard. Looks great. Just need my switches to come in to get it finished up.

Switches and the lowering parts came so I was able to finish the wiring. The switches are nice and low with these, but you have to be careful because it pushes the wiring all the way to the bottom of the cavity practically.

Looks good. I did a series mod from here with the neck pickup switch and the pickup selector switch mod on the bridge one.
