Italia are doing a loose copy of that hagstrom p46

Or some other junky glitter necked guitar idk
The maranello it's called, and this is their special anniversary with a glitter neck unlike the usual. Looks cool. Just rout for a jazzy trem, stick in some single coils, probably lipsticks, and we might have a winner
Apologies if I'm behind on the news but I think it looks pretty dapper

I thought Italia always did this sort of stuff? I quite like the moulded strat jack bit, even though it's a really naff bit of terrible design that's bound to break and not be fixable.

Yeah sorry I realised they'd done it before
But this is the anniversary model which has a glittery fingerboard, if that's your thing. It is mine

It'd only make a mess with my chocolate fingers.

That all sounds shit. It's a winner as it is.
Have always wanted the blue sparkle one from them.

It's a generic bolt on LP copy with generic humbuckers. I get that they look cool and all, but I don't get why anyone would pay more than say £80 for one.

I don't get why your mind went there. Have you actually played one? If not, that seems overly cynical and silly.
The prices for these are weirdly inconsistent. I'd pay the £300 HotRox has them for quite happily but no way would pay the £500+ some places are trying to sell them at. They are decent enough guitars. Better than any Epiphones or Eastwoods in that price range.

Always liked the look of the Maranello, didn't that guy in Franz Ferdinand use a red one for a while?..
Never actually played an Italia though and their prices has stopped me gambling on purchasing one.

Because it's not difficult to find a good bolt on Les Paul style guitar for £80?

HotRox is the cheapest I've seen them. Benecol said their resale is quite poor, so getting a secondhand one wouldn't be too bad if they do turn up.

Hotrox is near me as well, I'll have to have a gander sometime. Don't really need anything at the moment though tbh.

I absolutely LOVED the one I played, was brilliant. That pickguard is floating on springs (or spring mounted, whatever you want to call it) and the construction is kind of semi-hollow, so it's got its own sound, kind of like a Dano. I'd have one in a heartbeat, although it's feast and famine - there were loads secondhand on eBay, then fuck all lately (it's one of my saved searches).
Paul, I take your point, but that logic could be applied to just about any guitar apart from the really obscure stuff (ie. you could find a three single trem guitar/two pickup country-looking/double HB pointy thing for under £80).
COMEDY FACT: don't ask me how I know this, but at the end of the recent Manic Street Preachers Cardiff gig, it too James Dean Tony Blackburn about twenty minutes of embarrassing guitar smashing to even make a dent on Nicky Wire's bass. In his defence, his closing words as he left the stage more than a little breathless were: "Buy a fucking Maranello - they're really well made".
I also think they look Roxy as fuck.

Had my eye on the black glitter one they've got, but not convinced they actually keep any in stock (it's all a bit "call now for details").

Been out a year or so that one.
George, I'm immensely impressed that you're considering a guitar that even I've written off as "too wafty".

£650 is way too expensive so will look for one used. they need to bring that sparkle board on other colours too - the champagne body is maybe a little too grandiose.
its my dream to be that guy with the blingy/silly gear that people say "wow, hope he can pull that off with his playing" and then i do

Watched that Performance and laughed like fuck at his determination to smash the bass... 10\10 for effort looked like a pure dick though....
