It's a Fender Japan MG73-CO. It matches my white one.



Fiesta Red, yo! I've had Dakota Red and Candy Apple Red guitars in the past, but lately, I've realized that Fiesta is the only Fender red that really does it for me. It's loud, it's bright, and it doesn't care. I got this guitar at a good price, less than $500.

I've already rewired my new MG73 as I describe in this post: I designed a new Mustang setup and I love it. I love this wiring setup. It's extremely usable in live situations and looks 100% stock, which to me is important as I think the Mustang is the most perfect of all guitars.

I used DiMarzio Area Strat pickups this time. I've always loved these pickups in Strats but never had them in a Mustang. I got a left-handed Area '61 for the bridge and a right-handed Area '58 for the neck. In theory, with most Strat pickups, you need to get left-handed for the bridge on a Mustang as to get the correct stagger. I like them. They're a bit more "vintage" sounding than my usual Lace pickup combination but still noise free.

Anyway, in other news, I also Mustang-ized my PRS, which used to have a black pickguard with two humbuckers:



Much improved. I think my next guitar will be another Competition Mustang, but in Lake Placid Blue. I could put some hotter pickups in that thing (maybe the Paul Gilbert Injectors?).

I believe that's Honey, of "honeyiscool". Sweet Mustangs! FRD is the ONLY Fender Red.

Quite like that PRS. Reminds me of a Squier Venus.

I have four cats now, but this leopard one is the same one from before.

I too have grown to love Fiesta Red when I used to think it was fairly "meh".

I really wish I hadn't made a complete mess of my old Squier Stratocaster which was Fiesta Red.

I wrote stuff all over it, and eventually did a terrible blue refinish of it. Yuck.

That is very nice indeed. I also really like that PRS, much more than I've ever liked any PRS before.

How bad a job did you do? Bad enough a job that it could be easily undone?

Best part about FRD is depending on the light, it can look like anything from pink to orange.

I picked up a Fiesta Comp Stang just about the same time you got yours . Beautiful guitar .
