Would have preferred an SG style headstock but otherwise a nice looking guitar.

A bit torn on these.
I appreciate it isn't meant to be their SG but not keen on the headstock and the neck thru style stripes.
Other than that, one of the best Yammys we've seen for a long time.

I like the look of the RS502, black with 2 P90's. Why no dual tone/vol though?

I'm gonna take a stab at this one and guess that Joe Naylor's ingeniously simple Bass Contour(knob) has been copied for a simple on/off use on these guys, which is a very good idea. And when Jeff was here with his Jetstream HH I was blown away by the tonal versatility with the thing...and sure enough it looks like he's got now a Revstar(or two?) in his collection Hmm...

That's my general impression at the moment.
The newish SBG1802 and SBG1820, as amazing Gibson killers as they were (Yamaha's A.R.E process sounded like such a cool/Japanese thing to pull off), with the carved top and stuff they ended up being simply too high end to move volume, and pretty much alienated everyone who wanted an awesome Yamaha but not a eye-poking Pacifica. Methinks recalling the 1970s-1980s when so-called lower end Yamahas were still an incredible value is a good thing.

I think they'll suffer from being compared to the SG's, but once you get past the fact its not an SG I think they're pretty cool looking guitars... Can't remember the last time I liked a newly design guitar.

Yep these do have a Reverend look to them. I'm reminded of the Sensei. That's not a bad thing though. These guitars look okay, just nothing 'wow' about them.

That'll probably be the one I buy, can't justify a grand for the one I pictured, and it'll give me a nice matching pair

Nice. I've got the billy basic SG200. Was my first guitar. Frets are worn to fuck now so it buzzes a lot but still a nice guitar.
Not as fancy Dan as yours though.
Was looking on eBay yesterday at some of the nicer models. Not that many about in the UK though, or there weren't yesterday.
Edit: suspect user error. There seem to be quite a few on there atm.

That's the one I fancied- Reminds me a little bit of Travis Bean/EGC Steve Albini. I quite like the headstock too.
