I had one of these a long ways back, but I sold it or traded it. It was one of those things were once it is gone, you miss it? I saw another one up for sale on the Bay and decided to make an offer on it and picked it up. It is very clean and this version has the controls on the front instead of the top which makes it much nicer to use on my desk. Pretty psyched! It seems all stock aside from maybe the knobs? My other one had black knobs. The pots could use some cleaning, but otherwise it works great!

Just finished installing the three prong power cord. Went pretty smooth. I made sure to discharge the capacitors before I did anything. You can see the three wires in the pic. One down low (ground) connected to the transformer bolt. One is connected to that lower right lug on the transformer and the other goes to the fuse.

As far as I can tell I did it right. It is pretty quiet. If I touch the faceplate, the small amount of hum gets quieter. As far as polarity goes, the original plug could be plugged in either direction so either I guessed right or maybe I got lucky? 50% chance either way with two wires. LOL I imagine if I did it wrong it would be pretty noisy?

my pignose g40v makes a little noise and i noticed it doesn't have the center piece on the plug. i bet if i get that changed it would sound even better. I wonder if i need an amp guy to just change the plug?

It isn't hard, but make sure you discharge the capacitors so you don't zap yourself and double check that the amp is unplugged when you do the work and while putting things together. I had it off (but plugged in) when I was putting the chassy back in and blew an outlet when the mounting bolt touched something in the amp. Freaked me out, but nothing was damaged. There are three wires in the amp. (Since yours has the three prongs already.) Hot, neutral, and ground. Just make sure you pay attention or take pictures of what went where before and connect the same wires on the new cable to the same places. I just picked up an extension cord that was black and cut the female end off to get my three wires.

Other than draining the capacitors, it is pretty simple. Just three connections. I used a voltage sensor to discharge them. (Those wires with two points to see if an outlet has power. It lights up?) I touched one end to the chassy and one to the hot end of each capacitor. (Using just one hand so I wouldn't shock myself by accident.)

As long as you are careful, it shouldn't be hard and it does quiet it a lot having the ground working.
