Orange are ending production of the Tiny Terror after ten years. These little boxes were super popular on here when I was a tiny lurker, I had one that served me well for home, gigs and recording.

There is a super expensive hand wired special edition being released as a final goodbye, I wonder how many of the Shortscale OGs still have a Tiny Terror?

I saw they were releasing a 10th anniversary version, with a nice green cab, but didn't realise they were discontinuing the normal one.

people quit buying the more expensive amps, and were making no money off the little guy

I wouldn't consider the Tiny Terror Orange's most popular thing, it may have spent the last decade being the highest selling due to drastically less prohibitive pricing than most of their other tube amps though. On that note I always considered the TT too expensive anyway for what it was, it's like a Mac Mini.

Still, was a bit of a "game-changer", seems like everyone started marketing small-wattage tube heads around the time that was initially a hit. If it is biting the dust I presume they'll keep some of the many variations since introduced around, or have similar products replacing it.

Beautiful looking little amp, and a great gateway drug into valve heads.

But so shit with pedals.

I remember buying one not long after joining ShortScale. For a while it seemed like the entry-level valve head.

Contrary to popular opinion I actually thought it took pedals really well. Then again, it was around when I had that amp that I first got properly into pedals, so perhaps I didn't know any better at the time and I'm looking back through rose-tinted glasses.

I got rid because I found it wasn't quite loud enough for the bands I was playing in, and I also decided a combo would be more convenient than a head and cab (jury's still out on that one). I've also almost exclusively played through solid state amps since getting rid of it. I think maybe valve amps are just too much maintenance for me and I cba...

Either way, it's a real shame that the Tiny Terror is going away. I assume the rest of the Terror amps are sticking around?

Isn't the micro terror the same but smaller? One of my students just got one.

They're actually way different, the Micro Terror is a 20W hybrid with a 12AX7 preamp and solid-state power amp, while the TT is a true all-tube 7/15W head with 2 12AX7s and 2 EL84s.

I only played through a TT once at a gig in NYC like 7 years ago. I really liked it but yeah I dunno, could never justify buying my own and was more of a Fender guy.

I loved mine while I had it, beauty little amp for playing on it's own. Really no good with pedals in my experience though

I wanted to get one since they came out, but they were and still so expensive.

When people say they are shit with pedals, is it with just dirt pedals or all effects? I like amp distortion and pushing them with boosts but still love using modulation and some delay.

They get really overstaurated and bigmuffy. I personally love that, some people can't stand it.

I've had several opportunities to buy the combo version for $500 recently in shops. Things are probably still there. But that's still kinda too much IMHO for what you can get a pawnshop series amp for (yes different strokes I know)

i've always thought TT's sound amazing, but orange are just cost prohibitive to me. i'd want a combo at that price point.

They're expensive in the states but you could get them for £229 or something over here when they came out, maybe even cheaper - which in the UK market (we have to overpay on almost everything) is actually on the reasonable side.

the higher valuation on your currency helps a little bit, too, though i have noticed that slipping in the last 18 months or so.


anyway, i might pick one up if i see it cheap enough some day.

Yeah they were far more worth a punt in the UK which is indeed a form of poetic justice. Over here buying a TT and small cab is similar money to buying a used Silverface combo whereas in the UK I believe it's similar money to buying a CV Squier.

Dots. I see the combos pretty regularly on CL for 500 or under. Of course that is the price of a new ac15 (at least the less expensive version)...

I have thought a couple times about buying one as I have been playing electric alot more with the band (G&L tele and big box Gretsch) but actually love my direct setup I use (Sans Amp Fly Rig)
