Boss BD-2 vs OD-3

I've been on a bit of a Boss drive kick lately. I'm really enjoying the sounds I can get with these two.

I wanted to see how they could go together in a comparison that was as fair as possible. I feel using a looper like my Ditto X4 is the best way to do this.

I'd like to know which pedal everyone thinks came out on top.

Both sound great but I picked OD3, sounded a little more open to my ears.

I think I'm leaning towards that direction too. The BD-2 won for me in low gain though, I felt it was more clear and articulate.

yr ears need 2.0 badly, shadlet

Sounded way better than I was expecting, I'd expect a lot of that is down to your amp. I actually love the BD-2 model on the iPhone amp sim stuff I use, keep meaning to try one in person; seems to do the whole 'Jesus Lizard' mid-gain thing pretty nicely.

My amp eats pedals and makes them sound like part of the circuitry. That's why I use it for demos, it's very easy to get a good, neutral sound that forms a great base for pedals.

I get a strange JCM800 feel from the OD3, kinda like it. The other one sounds like a sober DS-1 with clothes on.

Next time I see Caleb (the guy who owns the BD-2), I'll see if I can nick it for a day and make a clip for you.

A DS-1 that cleaned itself up and is knuckling down at uni.

Trying to boost that GPA and get a career as a gigging pedal on some classy jazz guys board.

You know how it is...
