any ideas? I gave this body to my uncle to route, told him not to do the neck plate... oh well...

i was thinking the reassessed ibanez style. the plate will not work.

any thoughts to save the body?

If you decide to go with the recessed mounting cups make sure to get shorter mounting screws, else you'll have them poking out the fretboard.

Can you fix it up with bondo or something?

You could also route/chisel out a recess for a standard neck plate so that it's flush with the guitar surface, countering the bevel. You may still need shorter bolts, but it should work.

To fix the holes, get some dowel rods just slightly smaller than the the drill bit size used to make the hole. Then glue them into the hole obviously after cutting them to fit. Then when it's dry, you can sand it flush and redo the proper holes. HNB or Cooterfinger could help you with more detail.

Just make your own plate with the holes closer together :)

Yes, it will hold the neck as good as the original. I see it this way. Towel the holes in the neck and two holes in the body that are closer to the front edge. Try not to make holes in the body bigger than they already are doing that. Find some position in the body for the new holes so they don't overlap the position of the old ones very much. Make your own neck plate using aquaintances with a drill press and this thing(don't know how to call it)

And you will have one unique guitar.
