I have a sunburst 96 MIJ Jag but I'm not fond of the bridge pickup. So, I bought chrome Gretsch Filtertron pickups to drop in place of the pickups already in it (or I can save them for another guitar). To accommodate this, I'm thinking I need a pickguard from the CP HH Jag such as this:

Will there be an issue with the screw holes not lining up? Has anyone here done this?
Jaguar Pickguard Help Needed

Don't have direct experience with this particular swap but I know the Japanese guard screw patterns changed a few times (perhaps between MIJ and CIJ and other times as well?) and that a few Mexican and Squier guards actually take cues from AV templates as FMIC has more to do with them, so I'd think the probability of an MIM CP guard fitting a Japanese Jag perfectly is pretty low. They have different bridges and neck heel widths, might even present problems besides the screw pattern.
Might have to go custom; have someone that makes replacement MIJ guards/accepts custom orders to do one with the routes you want.

Thanks, Paul. If I have to go the custom pickguard route, it will be through Pickguardian.
As this project is getting more and more expensive (routing alone will cost $150 as I have never worked on a guitar nor do I have the tools for a job like that), I think I might just get a Novak JM pickup for the bridge. Or maybe his Lipstic pickup. No routing necessary on either of those and I could just save the Filtertrons for another guitar like a VMJM, which I hope to get in a few months.
