Looking for a bass combo

Guitar --> octaver --> bass amp

Looking for something to compliment complement my DRRI tonez.

Thinking something simple like a Fender Rumble 500 2x10 combo. I like how nice and clean it sounds on youtube.

Any thoughts or other suggestions?

Those new Fender amps are hard to beat for the price. Lightweight too. Wish I had gone with one over my ampeg pf rig, which is heavier, bulkier, not as powerful through the single cab, more expensive and already has problems with the di out.

Thanks for your feedback, Nick. I was comparing the Fender Rumble 500 2x10 with the Ampeg BA 2x10. I sort of preferred the Fender tone... I like how it's bright, natural, and more subtle. Hearing that your Ampeg is already falling apart sways me further. It seems a lot of people have had technical issues with newer Ampegs :?

The weight might be the clincher. Don't really want anything heavier than my DRRI, which I can carry with one hand

Damn, youtube videos can be deceiving. The Fender Rumbles are more "rumbly" than I thought. I tried a bunch of amps out today and preferred the strong midrange of the Ampeg and the bright tone of the Acoustic amps. Now really unsure :P

Any other brand suggestions?

Could I get away with using a 1x12 combo for a small show?

Depends on the amp....I gigged with a GK 112 which I think was 100w or 150...it wasn't very clean at those volumes though but got the job done.

I really can't recommend Ampeg because they're hit or miss quality wise...if you get one of course you can do what I did and get the extended warranty. Still need to contact musicians friend about that too, ugh

For gigging I really can't recommend going below 200W (SS). I don't have any good model recommendations, I've been out of the bass combo amp buying game for several years and don't really know what's on the market these days.

Thanks guys... you've given me some things to think about. Will try out some more amps ASAP.
