Saw this last night, figured some people here might get a kick out of it at least. I hope they do reissue it. I've been waiting for the right time to make a good backup to my number 1 for years. Now might be it.

I really want a white one, but I want contours on it...... Might have to do a Warmoth build.

The pickups are too close together. Are they all like that?

They do appear to look closer together but I've just compared some pics and they line up the same.
Given the price of the originals I'd like to see it reissued as I've always liked the JS and it was my introduction into the world of Offsets.
Having said that, I kind of hope it doesn't. For posterity. It represents an era that has gone.

Yeah.... you have a point. I could do a white one... but I would be thinking of the walnut one....

Looks like a shoop to me, especially around the bridge plate below the humbucker (pearloid looks cloned over it in one spot). The knobs and control plate also look quite odd.

I've been thinking about that one, could possibly be this could be like the Chinese "Modern Player" series where it's still branded Fender but made using inexpensive materials to save cost, or it could be a Squier VM and because it's in the "Fender Hollywood" area they decided it should have a FENDER decal rather than Squier.
Speaking of Fender Hollywood, that's where this guitar is located, so yes it is new, it's at Fender's new Hollywood offices, they have a wall of guitars there, some of which I don't think are (yet) production models. The guy who posted it on Instagram apparently either works at Fender or was there for the ribbon cutting or whatever.
I'm kind of surprised by the paint myself, I know it's the Japanese daphne blue, but it also looks like the Surf Green used on the Indonesian Cort-built Squier Mustangs to me. Will be interesting to see how this pans out if anything actually does become of it. I was telling them at OSG how it could also be tied to The Cribs somewhat as the basis for their model originally was the Jag-Stang, could be a both to pull Nirvana fans who missed teh Kurdtz the first and second time around, and for the Cribs fans who want the O.G. to their original design.
