It has been awesome for the last 50 years. What else?

And yes, 3-4 years ago vintage Melody Makers(set neck, Honduran mahogany, Brasilian rosewood boards. Not all, but many) cost 1.2 -1.5 times cheaper than Mustangs of the same years. Great guitars that hadn't been Kurdtzed or Claptoned or whatever and grew in price naturally. I would say they were last Great(quality, look and mojo wise) guitars for good money

I knew a guy that had his dad's old blue one that aged to the most spectacular green.

Nice, needs more sonic blue though.
I'm still kicking myself about passing up one of these on eBay (1965), especially because it went for 570 in the end..

Yeah. I love it. Watch them from time to time, but haven't been pulled the trigger on one yet. Always find reasons to talk myself out of it. Prices are still decent for vintage. The tremolo is a little disconcerting, because even if you don't use it your palm can still knock it out of tune. Pickup is thin, but that doesn't bother me. Would love to find one that has greened.
You thinking about getting one?

You could move up to a vintage SG Junior with a single P90 and wrap around bridge or tremolo. I've watched them as low as $1500.00 refinished or in shitty condition and original "good" condition as low as $1700.00, but they usually command around $2000.00 in better condition, and if you get into the cool or one off colors expect to see them for $3-4000.00 plus.

Awesome guitar, highly recommend
Mine was $1200, original colour in good shape, I threw in a Novak mm-90, though the factory route is big enough for a soap bar p90

Beautiful! Did you de-Trem it or is that a factory stop bar?
