Haven't had a chance to test it yet. I guess I should try to get a partial discount on account of the spectacularly shitty packaging causing damage to the amp. Ugh. :\

I was going to test the Acoustic by playing it through my Frontman's mighty 10" speaker, but first I need to solder up a speaker-cable-to-quick-connect-thingies adapter. Watch this space.

I had my skatecaster ready to go and everything.

The back panel was prolly screwed up before they sent it. That screw thing was stupid though.

Reverb: yeah there's a honkin' huge one in the bottom. Back panel was doubtlessly janky before; it's about as stiff as soggy cardboard.

They are truly gigantic and far heavier than they look, somehow. I had a Mesa F50, it was just as wide and deep, but combo-height, and 60 pounds (~27.2 kg) instead of this ones purported 44 (~19.96). As a 1x12.

edit: many of the earlier Marks were ~2 inches narrower.

The transformers are gargantuan, and must be made of pure, concentrated neutron stars:


All of that weight is awkward, too. My back still hurts. :\

Tried it out! It sounds pretty great to my terrible ears. Bass is pretty flubby with all controls at noon, as could be expected. 60 watt mode was perfect in both tube and FET modes. 100w mode introduced an ever-loudening hum that might have had some connection to a neon-orange-glowing power tube. I cut power before anything exploded or melted (as far as I can tell) and I'm letting everything cool down before I dive back in. I'm guessing I just didn't seat the tube properly, but we'll see.

Internet literature/hivemind seems to think it's just a bad tube, which I accept. I suppose I could swap the tubes around to see if it glows in other positions. Whatever the case, I don't even really need to replace the bad tube yet, seeing as how 60 watts is more than enough (for now!).

I guess this isn't The Final Form, but watch out for that jack shorting-out on the speaker magnet; seems like it could be bad times for your new amp, rinkydink speaker or both

Yep! The (earlier?) Mark IIs were the same. Kind of neat, I think.
