Mustang bodies aren't as thick as other Fender bodies. They are 1.5 inches thick whereas other models are 1.75 inches thick. So my question is this: do mustangs need shorter neck mounting screws than non-mustang Fenders?

I haven't owned one in a long time so take this with a grain of salt, but I'd say no. Typical neck screws don't come anywhere near poking through the fingerboard. Last one I owned definitely didn't require anything special.
