Gear4Music's own brands are all under £200

I only post it here because this one looks slightly offset...

I don't really want/need another guitar, but that flying v doubleneck does look cool.

I hear these fearful remarks often, and for a long time I believed them, and I suppose a 200 pound doubleneck probably comes with tuners made out of discarded thimbles and matchsticks, but if your 12 string has a decent set of tuning keys, and you've got a decent tuner pedal or snark it's really not a problem to "keep it in tune."

Your major issue with that guitar is the 6 saddle Tom bridge meaning you can't intonate right, unless you're happy avoiding half the frets or enjoy the soothing dissonance of warbles

Pretty sure you can by 12 saddle TOMs now that cost as much as that entire guitar, if you fancy

You get that same problem on almost any 12 (first 12 I saw with a fully intonatable bridge was the Burns Double Six reissue a few years back). It only becomes noticeable higher up the neck.

Which is why the Danelectro is still the best 12 string for the money.

That 12-string is moderately priced, but I saw a bunch of new Danelectros on the site in the original post that were way over 600 quid.

paid $350 for my Danelectro DC12 brand new. Those $700 Mosrite clones they're making now can gtfo

Because most 12 strings are shite, and people don't know how to play them and have low expectations. Anything with a TOM style and shared saddles is a waste of space. Danos, Fenders, or anything with the Gotoh style bridge is absolutely fine.

You can watch demos of most TOM 12 string guitars and you'll note how carefully the player will avoid problematic areas past the 5th or 7th frets on the E-D strings, and in the upper registers tend to stick to G-high E. Most of the action is around the 3rd fret, in fact.

And most people play too high a tension string so the string compliance of doubled up strings makes them stupidly hard to play. And don't even get me started on how unplayable classic Rickenbacker nut widths are, and the associated apologism of fans.

As such, most 12s gather dust in a corner then get fucked off on eBay.

There does exist a TOM with 12 separate saddles, but you probably won't get it on a 12-string in this price range.

Indeed. Last bridge I saw like that costs as much as that guitar.
