Anyway, this popped up locally on FB marketplace at a good price, so I'm interested - trying to determine if it's real or not.
Any help is appreciated. Here are the pics.

Second hand? I don't see the harm. If you like it, get it

Don't know why someone would try to fake one of these. They might not be common, but they're not sought after or rare are they?

The seller told me he "thinks is a replica"... I asked if he meant reissue, and he said "replica"
So that's why I'm curious.
The price is good though - only $150, but it's an hour away, there's a post-hurricane gas shortage, and I drive a mini cooper with a tiny tank.

Replica and reissue are synonims. For $150 I'd say take it. It's a rare guitar and the truest reissue of Hornet, including tremolo which suck balls from what I know. But guitar is playable other than that. Not my personal experience but, there were a good review about it on youtube. They were briefly produced, starting in 2008 or 2009, for a couple of years under the name Deadon. Body is made of poplar, at least it was said so while they were available on Thomann.de
I remember seeing some video with that indie band Vaccines and one of the guitarists played green Deadon.

I just sent the seller a message - not to haggle, but to see if he'd be willing to meet a little bit closer. He lives off of I-95, which is presently a parking lot.

Just wondering whether the whole paint job (including the control plate) is based on conductive paint, hence the Totally Shielded?

The tremolo system seems hilarious, but I kinda want one

If it was a replica of the original, I don't think it would have everything in satin.

Seeing these pop up used for $400 is hilarious, when I worked at Guitar Center and they were new, we couldn't give them away at $250

They were selling bad not because they were bad guitars, they were issued almost 10 years ago and there was very limited demand for Danelectros/Silvertones back then. 8 out of 10 guitarists that were coming to the shops were either in some way or other metalheads or people who looked for the "tonewoods" and made of plywood $200 Chinese guitars from Danelectro (most of guitarists didn't even know the history of the brand) was the last thing that could sound good in their opinion.
I agree on the part that it is stupid to ask so much for them now, but partly it's because current production Danelectros cost about $400 new which is also ridiculous.

Yeah I really wanted one in yellow back then but the boycott was more recent and I'd have felt bad about it. In hindsight I should have just bought it once it hit clearance. Not like the store was going to restock at that point.

Posted in the other thread but they're awesome, I got mine second hand but I'm glad I have it they weigh nothing and sound pretty huge. They're worth it if set up right.
