Squier-branded WRHBs, I wonder what they're like. Personally I like the "natural".

If they’re anything like the WRHB’s on Squier Tele Customs/Deluxes, they’re just regular humbuckers in a WR casing. I saw a photo of that green Contemporary one w the active pickups and it’s so deliciously wrong and I love it.

Look pretty great. They're missing the 5th pot which the recent MIMs also missed but I never cared to find out what it did anyway (blend pot?).

The pickup construction is probably going to be a standard humbucker like other modern reissues?

As far as I know the original WRNB is a finicky construction which requested more or less identical resistance of both of the coils and identical power wise magnetic fields created by two halves of a pickup. PITA to make it right and even a bigger PITA to mass produce it. Humbuckers are a much simpler alternative

The most recent ones were Made in China. I wouldn't be surprised if the CV's are the exact same guitar as the modern player ones.

yeah if you could rip the tinted neck off the CV and put it on the white affinity it would be rad town. and then put all the plasticky shit parts in the back of it like the contemporary so i can tear it apart we are approaching natalie portman territory

i like 2 knobs better too. because we all know fuck an tone knob. double fuck an 2 tone knobs

The CV ones are awesome and hard to believe. Not as hard to believe as it would've been before they did Stangs and Jags but still, THERE'S SEEMINGLY NO CAP ON THIS BOYS

Love the Lake Poo Brown one even if i wouldn't choose it from the line, because all the coolest '70s guitars came in that finish.

(Also yes plz to Squier Coronado XII in Hotdog Stand Burst).

Master volume... only really useful when using the middle position with one/both of the pickups rolled off a tad, while also plugged into a dirty tube amp and you want to dial the gain of your sound back a bit. On the 4-knob Gibson setup you'd have to turn both pickup volumes down to the same spot to do that, hardly an on-the-fly move. It made enough sense for it's time, plus most of those popular 50s Gretsch designs (Jets, Falcons, Gentlemen) had them so it wasn't a super lofty aim or appointment either.
If you think about it, since virtually nobody uses their onboard controls anymore to dial in their "always dirty" amp sound, this would just be an extra pot/knob per guitar in terms of production cost and then also something extra to potentially go faulty on the owner.
