Looks like many things he can't do.
Seat a neck for proper string alignment is another one of them.

It's missing the high E string.

In local listings that's often described as a defect by the noobs selling the guitars.

Yeah, I don't know if this is a flip so much as a player grade version of an otherwise overpriced model. It's probably overpriced right now IMHO, might be worth $500-$550 shipped on a good day.

also described as "non-functioning" and has problems with the electronics.

Well yeah, but is it really worth that much in that condition? It's kind of beat up as well.

I think people are just pointing out that the profit margin of wiring this thing and immediately flipping it won't be as favorable as you think, rob. You can get cleaner and more original sunburst Venuses for under $850 all day long.

Kim is correct that the neck is visibly on crooked as well though, look at the inlays between the D and G. This whole guitar is a mess.

^I think of that scene so many damn times a week. Either that or Murray's reaction to whether or not the boy can tell time at the press conference.

Might as well make an offer. For cheap enough, it's a hell of a mod platform..

Update. Offer made and countered with a ridiculous counteroffer.

Backstory. I am effectively unemployed, so my idea was to get it cheap enough to fix and flip while still making a profit, since without an income, the limited money I have has to work for me. I also live in Miami, and have adopted the hard haggle style people have down here.

The idea was buy it, return it to as stock as possible, set it up and clean it.

I made a lowball offer at $200, hoping to meet in the middle at $350-400. I've done this before when buying gear locally, and it's been mostly successful. He countered with $2000, so I didn't even bother countering.

I laughed, the seller (probably) laughed. Good times were (hopefully) had by all.

It’s actually far more likely at this point that the seller was a massive dumbass who doesn’t know anything about guitars or money and also has self-esteem/anger issues. A lot of that stuff is hard to decipher through text, though.

$550 for a busted ass guitar likely requiring hours of effort and maybe a tech to get right is way outta line. $350 max.

dude prolly saw the average sale going between 7 and 8 hundo and figured 150 for someone's trouble was worth it. WRONG.

And his counteroffers are absolutely ridiculous.

I don't know why you think wiring a humbucker and a single coil to a toggley and a volume knob takes hours of work. It takes 10 minutes

Has a concentric knob so probably a tone control as well.

Also the neck looks fucked, probably not a good fit in the pocket for whatever reason (whether a lemon from the factory or dicked with in unseen ways)
