I think the other Waza craft dirt pedals (BD-2w, SD-1w, MT-2w) are about 150USD? Would probably expect the HM-2w to be similar. Based on how they've handled these to date, it should also have a new "custom" mode as well as a recreation of the original circuit.

Eh, it seems more flexible than what just death metal has done with it; a lot of that sound is just turning up the level so much that it's kicking the shit out of your amp's preamp.

I've had mine for almost 30 years ( shit, that makes me feel old) and have never played teh metalz. I got one because a lot of the shoegaze bands were using them (especially MBV IIRC).
Wasn't Dave Gilmour a big user of the HM-2 as well?

Yes to all of this... including owning one so long it makes me feel old.
It was my first pedal (HM-2) and I dearly regret selling it.
It didn't sound like Nevermind though, like.
I've built a few (working on one now actually) for customers and they sound great - you add a mid control in there and modify the gain control so it has some range to it and it's an incredibly versatile distortion
Oh and the Macari's guy hounded me online to stop using the term tonebender on any pedals I built a few years back, I guess in preparation for this land grab
