do it. just do it, procrastination kills. just remember the less wood you take off the better, and for good reason too,
hopefull this will also show that i am capable of building, aside from my custom guitar.
peace

The main thing iam worried about is getting the template right. what do you cut yours with rob? a jigsaw or a router?

templates. i use a band saw to get it as close as possible to my lines, then i just use the oscilating sander and hand sand it to perfection, unless i have the body then i just trace it, cut it will the band sand, then double stick tape them and go at it with the table roughter.
peace

i have just found that the neck template and body templates that i ordered a few weeks ago are off!!!
the neck pockets on all of them besides the tele are off by at least 2mm.
the worst being the strat which is 3 whole mms.
that may not sound like alot but when you think of it, it needs to be perfect.
i just emailed the guy and basically said, send me new ones that are cut right and i will send you the shitty ones. othwise, full money back, asap.
hopefully this doesn;t slow progress anymore than it already has been.

I made and use a "master" neck pocket template. You should do the same.

Do you rout the neck pocket template before cutting out the body shape?IMHO it makes sense to do that.

the master temp i got was wrong, and i don;t have a jazzmaster neck to make a pocket template so.... i was just relying on what the guy gave me.
but its all good and graving i made some maple pices to fit inside the pockewt so when i recut it it will be like butta.

Ah. Cut the neck to make sure it's right before you waste any more time on it. Nice.

these are the parts and the neck mocked up, i just need to route the strat jack on the back, final sand and he can paint it.
the body is single peice bass wood. two p-90s a strat trem, full scale( ) a volume, a tone and a three way.
and no pickhuard, that would cover the pretty sonic blue that he is painting it.
the neck is the interesting one.
it was half assed home down job that my friends grandpa did back in the 70s. i sanded it all down filled all the wholes, gave it a complete refret and made it fretless after the 13th fret. im not sure how its gonna waor but it should be interesting. I filled the old slots with bloodwood, they get really dark maroonish, almost purple when its stained.
i havent made any real progress cuz i have had to fix three neck pockets plus i had two restoration jobs come out of no where.
here are the pics of the silvertone dano copy.

heres one of the restorations.
I have no idea of the manufactureer, but i bet its a 60-70 jap copy!!! of something. its got some weird writing in the neck pocket, looks like japanese, and a lil enlish as well,
i gave it a fret jobby, neck ajustment, new tuners, two new pots and basically an overal setup and cleaning.
