Well...I wasn't expecting to find this yesterday at a yard sale.
It was in a very unassuming chipboard case, stood on its side. The kind of case that usually contains, at best, a 50's/60's Harmony/Silvertone, if not a beat up 80's import guitar with a twisted neck, or nothing at all inside.
$25 sticker on the side, took a peek inside the case and saw the headstock. I paid the asking price and got it home.
Looking it up, it's a Gibson TG-0, the serial seems to put it at 1965. The neck is straight but does need a truss rod adjustment for full tension - for now I've slackened the strings to an open tuning, which is proving to be more fun and inspiring than the top 4 of a 6 string I originally had it. The action only looks high because of the saddle, has plenty of room to come down.

At first I was like, well I'm sure $25 for anything Gibson is a steal, but is a banjo or what. But then I watched this video and it actually sounds pretty cool.

That was my reaction buying it - I've missed having a nice old acoustic since selling my Guild G37, and while part of me would have loved for this to be an LG-0 (same body, different neck and bridge), after playing this thing for a while I can't put it down. I'm kind of glad it's something different now - since it's something I never would have paid market value for, I get to enjoy it for what it is

Between this and the hifi thread, you've been doing well out of yard sales recently!
It warms my heart that bargains are still there to be had.

I also grabbed this 70’s Stoll Giroflex chair for $20, a few houses down from the Gibson - new studio desk chair
