repairing a dynamic microphone?
i was going through my stuff, and i have an Electro-Voice 630 mic from the 40's or 50's. it doesnt work. anyone know about testing the element, or getting a new one?
it is an all chrome "saltshaker" type mic, from a time before XLR.
i did take it apart; it has the element, breaking into two wires, one of which is interrupted with "on/off" switch, and then both to the weird 3-prong out jack. i assumed one was ground, the one with the switch was hot.
the cable i have is in great working condition, so i think its the element, which i don't know how to test; alternately, could be the switch - which was replaced before i got the mic.
i checked on the web & is about $40 to have the mic looked at. so wanted to do it myself if cheaper.
