Errr. How do you adjust the EQ with the strings in the way? I don't get it. Is this a Duncan pickup?

I think it's quite obvious. Because the strings AREN'T in the way. It's got 7 potentiometers, which would probably mean they go in between strings.

? If the pot shafts come up between the strings then wouldn't the strings hit the shafts?

I believe the "pot shafts" are the "screws" themselves.
How that pickup looks under that EMG style cover is beyond me. But this concept is pretty damn awesome.

9v battery in guitar = not ROCK N ROLL.

I disagree. My first electric guitar was a Cort strat copy (no pickguard) that had double humbuckers and 5 or 6 built in effects. Phase you could do without battery.
But distortion, chorus wah, and something else, required 2 D batteries in the back. It was a real guitar, not a toy.
AND IT WAS ALL ROCK.
