would it work, or would it sound like a over-bright piece of sh#t?

Seymour Duncan recommend a 250k tone pot with their JBs, cos it's so bright. But i like my guitars to sound more open, with higher valve pots.

Anyone try a JB with a 500k tone pot? i know people must have tried JBs or JB Jr's in their mustang/jaguars (1MEG tone pot), so how does that sound??

It's fine.

If it's too bright you can just back off the tone. The cap plays more of a vital role in the amount of treble produced. I've used 250K, 500K and 1MEG pots with a JB before on my JagStang - none of them were overly bright.

hey thanks. yeh i was actually thinking of putting it in my jagstang. did you change your cap values then??

at the moment the JS has a super distortion pickup, which is absolute b#llocks. also i don't really like the vintage strat neck pickup.

im thinking Jaguar pickup in the neck, JB in bridge and 500k pots. should be fun!

The neck pickup, besides the actual neck is the best thing on that guitar.

I did lots to that thing before I sold it. Tried taking the cap values lower and lower to eek more treble out of it, straightening the humbucker - the whole shebang, even had a bypass controls option on my switching. Just not enough treble for me - I like bite. Good luck though and happy experimenting.

I loved it actually - it was beautiful. Unfortunately me and my dad killed it when taking off the scratchplate the first time.

no - it's a vintage strat pickup from a 62 reissue strat.

why did Fender choose that and not a texas special?? Cheapness i guess - or maybe the fact that the pole pierces are staggered, and therefore match the high radius JS neck.

Imo JS necks are gorgeous second only to the MM, and the neck pup is really sweet especially on clean or with a slight bit of crunch.

I usually have mine's plugged into a supergainey amp, but the neck cleans up something lovely with the volume rolled off on the guitar.

I love my Jag-stang, which is why I'm resisting the temptation to give it to you fer the Jazzy.

Lol, i've come out of the closet about Jag-Stangs and now everyone's admitting their love for the JS. The trooth is out.

I've never been ashamed of liking it. It's just tha you talking about them has sparked conversation about.
